California Wing is hosting its inaugural Level IV course of instruction, focusing on the 14 moderated modules facilitated by credentialed Volunteer University (VolU) instructors with validated group or wing and above command or staff experience.
Level IV primarily focuses on expanding leadership skills, program development, and building a more holistic view of CAP. Level IV prepares the member for service as a group or wing-level leader who aspires to serve on staff or as a commander.
Registration will be restricted to members of Pacific Region (PCR). Students must have Level III completed by registration and must have the following prior to course start:
-
A working laptop/PC/tablet with sufficient bandwidth for a video call with up to 30 people
-
A working webcam and microphone (ensure these work BEFORE the course start)
-
A CAPR 39-1 compliant Class B / Aviator or corporate working uniform (polo variant)
This course is facilitated through the Virtual-in-Residence (ViR) program, allowing you the flexibility of completing these moderated modules in the comfort of your own home. Classes will take place starting 8 February 2026 and run every other Sunday from 1800hrs – 2000hrs Pacific Standard Time (PST), ending on 3 May 2026. We will cover two modules per session with a scheduled 10-minute break between modules. The only exception is the first time we meet, which will run an additional 30 minutes to cover the course itself. If you miss a session, you have the option of completing those modules online through Absorb.
Students may be required to complete pre and post course work, depending on the modules. Post-course work (along with attending class) must be complete and provided to your instructor before credit will be given for that module. If you have already completed a module we are covering, you are not required to attend that class. We will utilize Google Meet (not MS Teams) – individual calendar invites with meeting links will be provided to the students after registration closes (about 1 week before the first class start).
Requirements to get module credit:
-
Complete any pre-course work before we cover that module
-
Attend the class itself
-
Complete any post-course work (ie homework) and provide that to your instructor
