Group 2 ES Training W/Santa Clara County Sheriff SAR (23-T-3833)
October 22, 2022 - October 23, 2022
All Group 2 Members
October 2022 Santa Clara County SAR Ground Team Exercise, with CAP Support
This is an opportunity for Group 2 to refresh GTM/GTL skill proficiency for up to ten members (up to five staying overnight) and coordinate with the Santa Clara County Search and Rescue (SSCSAR) organization. While the focus will be proficiency training for current GTM/GTL standards, as many as four ground team members could be trainees provided there is a mentor/SET on the team who will provide sign-offs and training. The ground team exercise format is primarily a two-day event at Henry Coe State Park, at the Dowdy Ranch entrance located off Hwy 152 at Bell Station (CAP Grid SFO323D), Saturday overnight to Sunday on 10/22-23.
Additionally, we will provide communications relay functions with a highbird aircraft for the day on 10/22, and possibly 10/23. Members will then be ready to assist in organizing future missions and future training opportunities for new trainees. Aircrews will launch and recover highbird aircraft from their home base, with stops for fuel as needed throughout the day on Saturday (and possibly Sunday) nominally at RHV (or possibly CVH if 100LL is required-- RHV only has UL94).
A remote MRO will be engaged as well.
Based on last year's success, we are requested to provide 1-2 AOBDs to support helibase operations for 2-4 helicopters.
Cadets are encouraged to participate within these constraints and also providing CPP can be maintained.
NOTE: Training is subject to FY23 funding approval prior to the dates of the exercise.
