Group 2/5 UAS Training

July 27, 2024 - July 28, 2024

Contact:
Ashish Goel
Location:
Dublin, CA
CAWG Groups 2 and 5 plan to jointly provide sUAS training in Dublin on Jul 27 and 28, with a focus on ratings completion and advanced training. All CAWG (and other Wings) Seniors and Cadets are welcome to attend.

We expect to provide training opportunities towards a form 5u (CAP's sUAS initial pilot qualification) and to qualified Trainees towards sUAS Technician (UAST) and sUAS Mission Pilot (UASMP) ratings, as well as advanced training opportunities for those with current ratings on new types of drones and complex scenarios. Please use the form below to sign up by Jul 10 and request specific training opportunities. We will notify participants by Jul 13.

We will make every effort to accommodate as many people as are interested in the training. Should we have more interest than slots to fill, as has been the case in the past, we will prioritize members that were on the wait list at the previous UAS-MAS event and did not get in and those that already meet the prerequisites (see below) vs still working on them.

Prerequisites:

Those seeking a form 5u to become sUAS pilots must have all their prerequisites (hours, TRUST certificate, part 107 completed and current, some CAP training) completed, so they are ready to take the form 5u evaluation with minimal additional training.

Those seeking a UAST or UASMP rating must have all their prerequisites (including form 5u for pilots), Fam and Prep tasks, as well as all ICS tasks (online required FEMA courses, ICUT, CAPT 117 exam part 2) completed by training day.

Those UASMP pilots seeking form 5u or 91u renewals or advanced training must have currency training completed for their part 107.

Those UAST seeking advanced training should be current in their rating (as shown on their 101 cards).

We will provide a single session for completion of any advanced SQTR tasks that are classroom-based on the morning of July 27th. No Fam and Prep will be provided as part of this event, but please feel free to reach out to any qualified skill evaluators (SETs) for individual training (or to the project officer, who will try to facilitate a combination of self-learning and a session with a SET if there is enough interest).
