March 11, 2023 - March 12, 2023
This activity is open to Group 5 personnel only.
This will be a standard SAR exercise with 5 separate scenarios. Each of these scenarios will require the aircraft crew to plan and execute the mission using the fundamental skills of Crew Resource Management and Situational Awareness. Scenerio 1 will be an aerial photography mission. Scenerio 2 will be a standard electronic search for an ELT beacon. Scenario 3 is a "Locate and Report" exercise using 3-5 white tarps in one grid. Scenerio 4 is also a "Locate and Report" exercise using pre-defined photographs. Scenerio 5 is an aircraft crash site.
1. Each Aircrew participating in the event will practice using elements of sound Crew Resource Management and Situational Awareness.
2. Each Aircrew will participate in at least 4 scenerios/exercises (2/day)
3. It is the goal of the SAR exercise to sign-off the maximum amount of Mission Observers, Mission Scanners, IC and Base Staff possible.
4. This exercise will allow Base Staff, including the Incident Commander* and the Communication Unit to practice skills usually associated with an actual SAR event.
