Group 6 "SAREX in the Sierras" Ground Team Training (23-T-4946)

This SAREX is focused on expired or new GTM members that have completed the prerequisites necessary for field experience. Air assets will be interacting with and supporting the ground teams. Proficiency training will be offered. The focus of the exercise will be to conduct ES training including coordination of UAS teams with GTM’s. FLIR and Waldo mapping will be incorporated. This SAREX will be conducted in mountainous terrain near Yosemite National Park in the Sierra Nation Forest. 

In addition to GTM, this exercise will support advanced task SQTR’s for trainees having attended a Mission Scanner/Observer Ground School. SAR Air sorties will include qualification of trainees in the MS, MO TMP and MP ratings. Aircrew proficiency coordination for qualified standard rating of MP, TMP, MO, MS and AP. Air sorties will consist of Hi-Bird and SAR/AP/WALDO.  UAS will be on a concurrent mission number.

Base Staff training will simulate a larger mission consisting of a full ICS staff working out of one local mission base and one FOB.  Madera and Mariposa Sheriff’s SAR team will be invited to participate.
