February 7, 2026 - February 8, 2026

Contact:
Aaron Gapasen
Location:
Riverside (KRAL)
Updates:
  • We will be offering sUAS training out of Whiteman Airport and Riverside Municipal Airport.
  • If we can find a sUAS SET who is willing to go to Landers, we will be offering sUAS training there also.
  • We are in need of an AOBD for Riverside Municipal Airport flight operations.
  • We have 77 participants signed up so far. We have the budget for more people to join us. So please sign up and take advantage of this excellent training.

Groups 1, 3, 7, and 8 invite you to come join your fellow CAP members at our first Advanced Search and Rescue Exercise (SAREX) of the new year.

When is it happening? Saturday, February 7, 2026, through Sunday, February 8, 2026

What is an advanced SAREX? An advanced SAREX is designed for CAP members (seniors and cadets) who are already standards in their emergency services operations qualifications, or who are ready to have their second exercise participations signed off.

What if this is my first SAREX or I have not had my first exercise participation yet? There may be training opportunities for you if you are in a training status, or have not participated in a SAREX before. However, the focus of this Advanced SAREX will be for those CAP members who are currently standards or higher in their qualifications. If you’re not a standard or higher, you can still sign up, and if there is room, we will have activities for you to gain experience.

Where is it happening? This SoCal Advanced SAREX will be held in three locations: The main base (Inland ICP) will be located at Riverside Municipal Airport (KRAL). A remote base (Division Whiskey) will be located at Whiteman Airport (KWHP). And our ground operations will be operated at Basecamp Landers in the city of Landers. We will be running UDF teams out of KRAL and KWHP. Some aircrews will be launching from airports other than KRAL or KWHP. We will be running sUAS operations out of KRAL and KWHP. If we can get a sUAS SET for Landers, then we will be running sUAS out of Landers.

Operational Periods: During this Advanced SAREX, we will be introducing 2 operational periods for each training day: OP1 and OP2. OP1 will be from 0700-1200 and OP2 will be from 1201-1700. If you are planning on participating for the full training day, select OP1 and OP2 for that day. If you are planning on participating for either the morning or the afternoon session of a training day, select either OP1 or OP2 for that day. You are invited to participate in one or all four of the operational periods. We know that most of you are busy, so don’t feel like you must attend all four operational periods to participate.

Uniforms of the Day:

  • Utilities (ABUs or OCPs)
  • Corporate Field
  • Corporate Working
  • Flight Duty Uniform (Aircrew)

Cost: $8 per operational period or $15 for the full day to cover meals and snacks.

To Enroll:

1. Click on this link: Enrollment Form (Password: SAREX2601)

Enrollments will close at 5:00 PM on January 30, 2026, to give us time to prepare the participation letters. Once we have processed all enrollments, we will be mailing a participation letter to all those who we select to attend the event. This letter will contain all the details of the event, along with your training assignments.

Squadron Commanders: Because of known issues with the email transition from Microsoft to Google and since junior cadets are no longer on the email distribution lists, please forward this invitation to all your squadron members or print out copies to distribute at your next squadron meetings so that they can have access to the enrollment link.
