StellarXplorers
October 18, 2024, 5:00 PM - 5:50 PM (America/Los_Angeles)
Description:
The StellarXplorers Space STEM Program, created by the Air & Space Forces Association (AFA), inspires high school and middle school students toward careers in space, aviation, and other science, technology, engineering, and math disciplines critical to our nation’s future.
The StellarXplorers National Space Design Competition is a fun space system design competition that challenges teams of students to solve orbit planning, satellite component, and launch operation scenarios in a series of online rounds.
Presentation:
The practice round will be held early October.
A summary of the practice round will be presented which is typically a combination of an academic quiz of 25 questions using the Nova Space App and the provided study guide, the use of the satellite tool kit (STK) to analyze the optimal orbital parameters to obtain the most image/communications/ground coverage and transmit it to the ground.
Additionally cadet use Microsoft Excell spreadsheets to determine mass, cost, propellant load, solar panel area and others to determine the optimal payload/spacecraft configuration.
The competition lasts up to 6 consecutive hours and the spreadsheet has reached over 1100 line in the 6 hour window.
Please let us know our date and window of time which we can accommodate 15 to 60 minutes.
