Cadre Selection Exercise (CSX) Applications OPEN

March 4, 2026

California Wing Cadets,

I hope this email finds you well. It is with great pleasure and excitement that I announce the opening of the Cadre Selection Exercise (CSX) applications. With the upcoming Encampment for the wing, we have an incredible opportunity to make a lasting impact on the lives of hundreds of cadets. I'm excited for another successful encampment, and I invite you all to join me in upholding the legacy of the CTG in a leadership capacity.

Applications for support and training cadre roles are now being accepted through 15 March 2025. CSX will take place at Camp Roberts from March 27-29. The current open positions are:

  • Flight Sergeant

  • First Sergeant

  • Flight Commander

  • ATS Flight Commander

  • ATS Assistant Flight Commander

  • Logistics Team Member

  • Logistics Deputy Director

  • Communications Team Member

  • Technology Team Member

  • Public Affairs Team Member

  • Public Affairs Deputy Director

  • Administration Team Member

  • Administration Deputy Director

  • Food Operations Team Member

  • Food Operations Deputy Director

  • Curriculum and Plans Team Member

  • Safety Team Member

Due to increased interest in attending CSX, we are requiring that applicants who are interested in serving on cadre have fulfilled at least one of these requirements:

  • Completed NCOS as a student

  • Completed the Advanced Training Squadron as a student

  • Staffed a wing level event such as DCS/ADCS or an ILP school

  • Previously staffed an Encampment (either CAWG or another encampment outside CAWG)

If you do not fulfill at least one of these requirements, you will not be eligible to register for CSX. If you are attending the upcoming NCOS North (Mar 20-22), you are eligible to register. However, acceptance to CSX will be contingent on your completion of the event. Exceptions to these requirements can be made on a case-by-case basis.

These cadre roles are open to any cadet who is interested in serving and who believes they meet the minimum qualification for these positions. All applications must be submitted through the E-services registration zone no later than 15 March 2025. We anticipate a robust applicant pool and encourage you to reach out via email should you have any questions or need clarification.

Registration will consist of two parts: one through Registration Zone on eServices and a second through Google Forms. Squadron Commander Approval will go directly through the Registration Zone, a physical signature is not required. It is your responsibility to ensure your commander provides approval. Be sure to attach all required forms. Additionally, you must click the link below and fill out the online form completely by uploading a resume, cover letter, and preferences for positions. Failure to complete both of the above will prevent your application from being considered.

You will be required to pay online. Once you register on Registration Zone, return to the main page where you will see the CSX event under “My Events”. In that block, please click on the payment Icon, which looks like a dollar sign. Once you’ve paid, you can return back to the main event page to ensure the payment is complete. If you have any questions regarding the Registration Zone, please contact C/Maj Kaylin Pham (kaylin.pham@cawgcadets.org) and Lt. Col. Robert Bitting (robert.bitting@cawgcap.org).

To register, use this link: https://www.capnhq.gov/CAP.Experiences.Web/Registration/RegistrationDetails?EventID=10708 . If this link does not work, search for "2026 CAWG Encampment Cadre Selection Exercise (CSX)" and register for the event. Additionally, use this link to upload your resume and cover letter: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfFjjpwS-vJOklpAqo-p6695Cl-bYH3xcPLsgN8ExIUCt-Pvg/viewform

For applicants who are unable to attend CSX, an option for virtual application is possible and will be limited to the first 8 cadets that request this. Do not register for CSX via Registration Zone if you are requesting this option. To be considered for a virtual application, please email C/Maj Kaylin Pham (kaylin.pham@cawgcadets.org) and Lt. Col. RC Bitting (robert.bitting@cawgcap.org) stating your reason for not attending CSX. The board will then review your eligibility for this option and send you a link to upload your resume, cover letter, and position preferences.

Thank you for your dedication and commitment to the California Wing Cadet Program. Together, let's make this year's Encampment a resounding success and leave a positive impact on the cadets under our care.
