Cadre Selection Exercise (CSX) - 2026 Winter Encampment

California Wing Cadets,

It is my pleasure to announce the opening of Cadre Selection Exercise (CSX) applications for this year's CAWG Winter Encampment. This winter encampment serves as a unique and incredible opportunity to not only makea lasting impact on hundreds of students, but also to set a standard for winter encampments to come. 

Applications for support and training cadre roles are now being accepted through 06 September 2026. CSX will take place at Camp Parks from September 25-27. The current open positions are:

Flight Sergeant 
First Sergeant
Flight Commander
Logistics Team Member
Logistics Deputy Director
Public Affairs Team Member
Public Affairs Deputy Director
Administration Team Member 
Administration Deputy Director
Food Service Director
Food Service Team Member
Curriculum and Plans Team Member 
Safety Team Member 
Health Services Team Member
Due to increased interest in attending CSX, we are requiring that applicants who are interested in serving on cadre have fulfilled at least one of these requirements:

Completed NCOS as a student
Completed the Advanced Training Squadron as a student
Staffed a wing-level event such as DCS/ADCS or an ILP school
Previously staffed an Encampment (either CAWG or another encampment outside CAWG)
If you do not fulfill at least one of these requirements, you will not be eligible to register for CSX. Exceptions to these requirements can be made on a case-by-case basis.

These cadre roles are open to any cadet who is interested in serving and who believes they meet the minimum qualifications for these positions. All applications must be submitted through the eServices registration zoneno later than 06 September 2026. We anticipate a robust applicant pool and encourage you to reach out via email should you have any questions or need clarification.

Registration will consist of two parts: one through Registration Zone on eServices and a second through Google Forms. Squadron Commander Approval will go directly through the Registration Zone; a physical signature is not required. It is your responsibility to ensure your commander provides approval. Be sure to attach all required forms. Additionally, you must click the link below and fill out the online form completely by uploading a resume, cover letter, and preferences for positions. Failure to complete both of the above will prevent your application from being considered. 

You will be required to pay online. Once you register in Registration Zone, return to the main page where you will see the CSX event under “My Events”. In that block, please click on the payment Icon, which looks like a dollar sign. The fee for Cadets is $75. The fee for Adult Members is $20, plus processing fees. Once you’vepaid, you can return to the main event page to ensure the payment is complete. For applicants who are unable to attend CSX in person, you may email CTG Commander C/LtCol Logan Byun (Logan.Byun@cawgcadets.org) and Commandant of Cadets Lt Col Harold Buchanan (harold.buchanan@pcr.cap.gov) and request to appear virtually. Do not register for CSX via Registration Zone if you are requesting this option. Such requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis and granted only for compelling reasons. The board will then review your eligibility for this option and send you more information if approved. In-person applicants will be selected first, so I would strongly recommend attending in-person if you are eager to staff.

On  Aug 30th at 1700 PDT, we will host an applicant webinar that provides prospective applicants with a comprehensive overview of the positions available and the responsibilities associated with each role. In addition, the webinar will include a Q&A session, allowing applicants to ask any questions and receiveclarification on any aspects of the application process, role expectations, and available positions. Attendees are encouraged to register in advance and attend the webinar to gain an understanding of the opportunities each position holds and determine which best aligns with their interests, qualifications, and goals.
