Call for Training Officers Winter Encampment

All Senior Members:

 

1. Applications for the Training Officer positions are now being accepted for the 2026-2027 Winter CAWG Encampment.  The encampment is scheduled for 27 December 2026 through 3 January 2027 at Camp Parks in Dublin, CA (San Francisco East Bay Area). Pre-encampment will begin on 26 December 2026. 

 

2. These positions are open to any Senior Member who has an interest in working with cadets and is available during the dates of encampment.  If you are only available part time, we are hiring part time and full time Assistant Training Officers. You do not need any prior training to be a Training Officer except for the completion of Level 1 and Cadet Protection. If you are light on Encampment experience, you will be paired with a more experienced Training Officer who will guide you. Additionally, all Training Officers will receive formal training prior to the start of Encampment.

 

3. The job descriptions and primary performance objectives for these roles are:

 

1. Squadron Training Officer: At large encampments, one of the more experienced Training Officers from each Cadet Training Squadron may serve as the Senior Training Officer. At larger encampments, the Senior Training Officer may be an exclusive assignment, without the STO sustaining responsibilities for a specific flight, but rather free to float between flights, as well as support the CTS Commander and First Sergeant. At smaller encampments, the Senior Training Officer may have concurrent duties as a Flight Training Officer. The Senior Training Officer provides guidance and assistance to the Cadet Training Squadron Commander and First Sergeant. He/she also serves as a communications channel between the Chief Training Officer or Commandant and the Training Officers in that squadron. STO's will have experience serving as TO's at multiple encampments and usually will have been project officers or Commandants at weekend CAP events. 

 

2. Training Officer: Each flight at encampment has a Training Officer. The Chief Training Officer (or Commandant of Cadets if there is no CTO) selects Training Officers from qualified applicants. A Training Officer or Assistant Training Officer accompanies the flight at all times. Responsible for: (1) Safety, health and well-being of the cadets. (2) Training, guidance and assistance to the flight cadre. (3) Ensuring that the encampment training program is progressing in a satisfactory manner. (4) Training and evaluating Assistant Training Officers.

 

3. Assistant Training Officer: The Assistant Training Officer position is often considered a training position. The positions of Training Officer and Assistant Training Officer are very demanding, Assistant Training Officers are important in lightening the load and lessening fatigue for both parties. The Assistant Training Officer is responsible to the Training Officer. Assistant Training Officers assist the Training Officer in: (1) Safety, health and well-being of the cadets. (2) Training, guidance and assistance to the flight cadre. (3) Ensuring that the encampment training programis progressing in a satisfactory manner. We will provide training leading up to the Encampment to get you prepared.

 

4. The following eligibility requirements apply to this role:

 

1. Active Senior Member (cannot be a patron member, or cadet sponsor) or Active/Reserve Military Member.

 

2. Completed Level 1 and Cadet Protection.

 

3. Physically capable of keeping up with the flight throughout the week.  TO’s are expected to always walk with the flight.

 

4. Must have CAP uniforms - Polo with grey pants maybe worn instead of ABUs, but STOs and TOs must have full set of Class Bs or Corporate Whites (ATOs should have both uniforms but may wear only the polo and grey pants if they do not have the full Class Bs or Corporate Whites).

1. State the role you are applying for.
    
2. Briefly explain why you are wanting to serve in this specific role. 

 

3. Qualifications for the role to include previous Cadet Programs experience (Encampment, NCOS, DCS, ADS, etc.).

 

4. A short biography on what you do outside CAP, professionally.

 

 

6. Active Duty Air Force and Space Force Personnel: Supporting Encampment is covered under Permissive TDY Rule 8 in DAFI 36-3003, so if you sign up as a TO this will not cost any of your annual leave.
